Here are the top three stories today in Savannah:

  1. Jermaine Ladson, a 40-year-old man, was arrested on Saturday by police in connection to a shooting on Apr. 4 in Savannah. The incident occurred on Avalon Drive, where a 35-year-old man was shot in the leg following a verbal altercation with Ladson, who was subsequently charged with aggravated assault and receipt, possession, or transport of a firearm by a convicted felon. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment, and it was revealed that he and Ladson had a prior acquaintance. (WJCL News Savannah)
  2. Frank Cardillo, a criminal justice student at Armstrong, is also making waves in the Savannah music scene as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of Little Gracie, a Southern rock jam trio. Despite being the only original member, Cardillo and his band entertained a large crowd at Victory North as they opened for The Stews, playing a mix of covers and original songs that kept the audience energized. Though balancing schoolwork and music can be a challenge, Cardillo sees music as his job and hopes to establish a big name for Little Gracie and tour around the country in the next five years. 3. Four individuals from Savannah were recognized by a local organization for their dedication to keeping the city safe, with the Savannah Police Department's Lieutenant Brian Spence being honored as supervisor of the year. Spence has been with the police department since 2009 and has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills in his rise through the ranks. He attributes his success to leading by example and supporting his officers as long as they follow policies, the law, and ethical practices. (WSAV-TV)
