Here are the top three stories in Savannah today:

  1. The majority of Chatham County voters have voted down a Transportation Special Purpose Sales Tax (TSPLOST). The tax would have provided funding for road projects in the county. The referendum failed by only 1,400 votes. The TSPLOST would have provided $240 million for various road projects such as repairing the I-95 interchange. (WTOC)
  2. SAFE Shelter for Domestic Violence Service will be hosting its annual Gala this weekend at the Palmetto Club on Skidaway Island. The shelter is the only Shelter in Savanah dedicated to intimate partner violence. The Gala will be raising money for the shelter's programming. Click for ticket information. (WTOC)
  3. The Savannah Fire Department responded to a possible HAZMAT exposure on Wednesday. The incident occurred at 1128 E Derenne Avenue at Nova Medical Centers. Several employees were exposed during the incident but none were seriously injured. (fox28media.com)
