1 Killed In Early Morning Crash On I-285: Cobb Police

One person died in a car wreck on Interstate 285 at Cobb Parkway that stopped traffic for at least four hours early Friday morning.

COBB COUNTY, GA — A fatal car crash blocked all lanes of Interstate 285 northbound for at least four hours early Friday morning, Cobb County Police Department officials said.

Cobb police investigators said a Tesla was headed east on I-285 around 4:30 a.m., approaching the exit to Cobb Parkway, when the driver — Vivek Iyer, 29, of Atlanta — lost control of the car and collided with the median retaining barrier.

Iyer's car, the Tesla, landed sideways across the travel lanes of I-285, and Iyer got out of the car and started to run when a Dodge Ram hit the right side of the Tesla, and a Toyota Rav4 hit the back of the Dodge.
