Here are the top three stories today in Smyrna-Vinings:

1. Keep Smyrna Beautiful is hosting America Recycles Day today, Nov. 15. There will be a short recycling presentation at the Smyrna Community Center at noon. Participants are encouraged to bring their own lunch. There will be recycling tours offered at the Smyrna Recycling Center from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (City of Smyrna)
2. Five new judges have been appointed to the Cobb County Magistrate Court. The appointments were made by Chief Magistrate Judge Brendan F. Murphy. A magistrate judge issues warrants and handles legal issues that don't require a trial. The appointments were Jana J. Edmondson-Cooper, Lauren R. Boone, Ronna M. Woodruff, Che A. Karega II, and Barry E. Morgan. Edmondson-Cooper will be full-time and the others will be part-time. (Cobb County Courier)
3. The Georgia Department of Corrections is searching for an escaped inmate in Macon. Iquane Shaqille Brown, 28 years old, had been charged with armed robbery in Cobb County. He escaped from the Macon Transitional Center. Cobb County residents are asked to not approach Brown. Call 911 immediately if he is sighted. (WGXA)
