- The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Cobb County due to heavy rains. There will be an increased risk of localized river and stream flooding through the end of the week. The National Weather Service has forecasted an increase between 1.0 and 1.5 inches of rainfall with a possibility of 2 inches localized. (Cobb County Courier)
- The City of Smyrna will be hosting a Black History Month celebration dinner. The event will feature Erica Armstrong Dunbar, author of "She Came to Slay: The Life and Times of Harriet Tubman." The celebration will be held on Friday, Feb. 24 at 5:30 p.m. at the Smyrna Community Center. All of the dinner proceeds will benefit Campbell Middle School and Griffin Middle School Foundation. - The City of Smyrna will begin accepting applications for its Smyrna Citizens Academy cohort on Friday, Feb. 10. Participants will learn about the inner workings of the city government while building positive relationships. The program will occur throughout a 10-week period followed by a graduation ceremony.
