Cobb Crash Kills One
Two vehicles collided in a Powder Springs intersection, killing one driver and injuring the other.

An Austell man was pronounced dead at the scene of a traffic accident in Powder Springs on Monday evening, Cobb County police said Tuesday.
Scott W. Johnston, 32, was killed when his gray 2015 Toyota Corolla collided with a green 1998 Mercedes ML 320 at the intersection of C.H. James and Richard D. Sailors parkways just after 8 p.m. Monday, police spokesman Dana Pierce said.
Witnesses told police that the driver of the Mercedes was heading west on Richard D. Sailors Parkway had a green light to cross C.H. James Parkway when Johnston’s Toyota ran the red light and entered the intersection heading south on C.H. James Parkway.

The driver of the Mercedes, 19-year-old Karyne N. Pierre of Hiram, was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Pierce said.
Police do not expect to file charges at this time, according to Pierce.
