Cobb Fifth-Grader Donates 500 Books; Recognized by Mayor

Since his experience with READing Paws and Better World Books, Jordan Piper has been a voracious reader, and is working to give back to the organizations that have supported him.

Children all over the world struggle with literacy, but only one fifth-grader can credit his love of reading to a dog named Drew.

Two years ago, Jordan Piper of Powder Springs, was an insecure reader, but Drew taught him how to read, “He never barked, he always listened to me, no matter how many mistakes – he never judged me,” said Piper in a press release.

Since his experience with READing Paws and Better World Books, Piper has been a voracious reader (even reading while he brushes his teeth!), and is working to give back to the organizations that have supported him.

Mayor Patricia Vaughn of Powder Springs will officially declare Friday, May 2 “Jordan Piper Day” to recognize the positive impact Piper has made on the local community during an assembly at Kemp Elementary School, located at 865 Corner Road in Powder Springs. As an added bonus, Better World Books will donate 500 books, including 20 of Piper’s top picks (see below for a few) to commemorate his legacy as he heads off to middle school.
