COVID-19 Testing Survey Sent To Cobb Schools Parents
The survey, which closes Thursday, asks parents if their children would participate in optional COVID-19 testing if available in schools.
COBB COUNTY, GA — The Cobb County School District opened a survey Tuesday morning for district parents, gauging whether they would allow their children to participate in voluntary COVID-19 testing if it were available in schools.
The one-question survey closes at 5 p.m. Thursday, and is accessible through the district's ParentVUE portal. District officials said they are exploring a partnership with local and state public health departments for testing in Cobb schools.
“We believe keeping students in face to face classrooms is critical for both students and families,” the district said in a notification at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Parent permission would be required for a student to participate. Testing options "could help to reduce the amount of time students are not in a face-to-face classroom," the survey notification said.
Though masks are still optional in Cobb County Schools, Superintendent Chris Ragsdale said during a school board meeting last week that the district would be altering its quarantine protocols regarding close contacts, which was completed Monday.

Before Monday's change, students identified as close contacts could return to school in person the next day as long as they wore a mask. Now, students will have to wait for three days before coming back to school in person.
