Here are the top three stories today in Smyrna-Vinings:

1. The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for Cobb County. The warning is in effect until 8:00 a.m. this morning (Nov. 18). According to the agency, there will be sub-freezing temperatures as low as 27 degrees. Residents are advised to protect sensitive crops, vegetation, and exposed piping. Don't forget to bring pets indoors. (Cobb County Courier)
2. The Education Chair of the Cobb Commission D2 Community Cabinet is hosting a Service Academy Information Day. The event is designed for students from seventh to 12th grade in the metro Atlanta area. The event will be held at Marietta's Jim Miller Event Center on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to noon. 3. The latest College and Career Ready Performance Index report indicates that Cobb County Schools experienced a significant educational loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The only performance metric that did not decline in the district was high school graduation rates. Despite the educational loss, the district's student largely outperformed their peers statewide.
