Man Escaped Medical Facility, Mattie's Call Issued In GA

Carter Jackson escaped from medical personnel in Smyrna Saturday while being escorted to a facility for mental health treatment.

SMYRNA, GA — A 22-year-old man has been missing for three days, and a statewide Mattie's Call is still active as law enforcement personnel continues searching for him.

While being escorted to one medical facility to another for mental health treatment Saturday, Carter Jackson escaped from medical personnel in the area of South Cobb Drive between Ridge Road and King Springs Road, Smyrna police spokesperson Lt. Louis Defense said.

Jackson is a Black male with lighter complexion, a short cropped hairstyle and was last seen wearing green or gray hospital pants, no shirt, and red and black shoes. Police said Jackson is suffering from severe active delusions, hallucinations and paranoia.

"Due to Mr. Jackson's severe mental health condition, he had made threats to harm himself and others," police said in a news release.

Anyone with knowledge of Jackson's whereabouts or anyone who may have seen him is asked to call the Smyrna Police Department at 770-434-6666 or dial 911 immediately.

"We have not yet had any leads, but we are still hopeful to find him safe and sound," Defense said in an email to Patch Tuesday.
