Here are the top three stories today in Smyrna-Vinings:
- After three years of business, Redbird is closing its doors for good on Feb. 19. Chef and co-owner Zeb Stevenson made the decision to close his famous Westside Provisions District restaurant due to uncertainties the industry brings in the future. Although many regulars are shocked and saddened by the news of the restaurant closing, Stevenson refuses to cut corners in his restaurant to stay open, as his priority is top-quality service. - Around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, Georgia State Patrol attempted to pull over a Dodge Charger speeding on I-20 West and ended up in a chase. The car chase ended as the driver lost control and crashed into multiple cars and businesses, including Little's Food Store on Carroll Street. Both the driver and the passenger attempted to flee the scene after crashing, however, the passenger was eventually apprehended. While the police were unable to find the driver, he has been identified and a warrant is out for his arrest. (WSB Atlanta)
- Atlanta superstar Quavo performed his song "Without You" as a tribute to his nephew and former member of 'The Migos' Takeoff, who passed away this past November after being shot outside a Houston bowling alley at this year's Grammys. With the spotlight shining on him, Quavo performed his tribute for Takeoff with one of his chains hanging from the microphone. The performance was backed by the Atlanta-based worship group Maverick City Music. The three members of The Migos (Quavo, Takeoff, Offset) grew up living together in Lawrenceville, GA, and later became two-time Grammy-nominated superstars. (WSB Radio)
