Smyrna Resident Darryl Slack Named KSU Assistant Men's Basketball Coach
Darryl Slack will scout upcoming opponents, and help with recruiting and on-court coaching.

Darryl Slack, who spent the previous two seasons as a graduate assistant at Georgia Tech, has been hired as an assistant coach by head men’s basketball coach Lewis Preston.
Slack, who completes Preston’s staff, will coordinate team community service, travel and film exchange, while scouting upcoming opponents and assisting in recruiting and on-court coaching. He also will be involved with individual summer camps.
"I am fortunate to learn under an experienced staff led by Coach Preston," Slack said. "This is a great opportunity that I will take full advantage of while helping to build the Kennesaw State University men’s basketball program into a perennial contender in the Atlantic Sun Conference."

During his two seasons with the Georgia Tech men’s basketball team, Slack assisted in the day-to-day operations of the basketball office such as film editing and scout preparation, while also aiding the in practice and skill workouts.
Prior to joining the Yellow Jacket coaching staff, Slack served as a summer camp counselor and coach at Georgia Tech.

"Darryl brings energy, passion, enthusiasm and willingness to learn on and off the floor. Furthermore, his knowledge and respect amongst coaches in the Metro Atlanta area is a plus as well. We look forward to watching Darryl’s growth as a coach and teacher here at KSU."
Slack, who was a two-time All-Mid-South Conference selection while playing an NAIA West Virginia Tech, earned a bachelor’s degree in athletic coaching education in 2010. He went on to earn a master’s degree in sport management from West Virginia in 2011.
An Atlanta native, Slack prepped at Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy where he and current Orlando Magic star Dwight Howard helped the Warriors claim the 2004 Georgia Class A state championship.
Slack and his wife, Jessica, who works in the admissions office at Spelman College, live in Smyrna.
