- A suspect wanted for a Smyrna apartment complex murder has been arrested. The Cobb County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Task Force arrested Tavis Crankfield, 20 years old, in the Delk-Powers Ferry Road area on Wednesday around 4:30 p.m. He has been charged with felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault, and more. (East Cobb News)
- A Cobb County homeowner reports that she has been receiving code enforcement violations for a strip of property that she doesn't own. According to Amy Barnes, she has received the violations for a segment of land that runs alongside her home. It is supposedly owned by a private owner who isn't Barnes. Cobb County reports that it is aware of Barnes' case and the current open citations involve her property. The citations involving the property that she does not own have been dropped, according to the county. (WSBTV)
- Cobb County Public Schools says it is struggling to address students' mental health needs. The district did not add any new counselors with the use of COVID-19 relief funds. The district's school counselors have a backlog of students seeking care and support. According to a district spokesperson, the district's hiring budget for school counselors depends on the state funding formula. The district strongly supports more funding. (WHEC)
