Student Struck by Car Outside High School

The South Cobb High School student is in critical condition at a local hospital, according to a report.

A South Cobb High School student is fighting for his life at WellStar Kennestone Hospital after he was hit by a car while trying to cross the street by his school Tuesday morning.

Cobb County police say two young men were attempting to cross Austell Road away from the high school at 9:16 a.m. when one of them was struck by a vehicle. The 16-year-old who was hit was taken first to WellStar South Cobb Hospital before being transported to Kennestone, according to police.

WSB-TV reports that a Dodge Neon struck the student, and adds that the student is in ”extremely critical” condition at Kennestone.

The driver of the vehicle was uninjured, police say. WSB-TV reports that the driver remained on the scene following the collision.
