What's New in Smyrna?
Here are a few new ordinances and changes recently adopted by the City of Smyrna.

The City of Smyrna recently adopted the following ordinances to regulate temporary signs, noise and the Food Truck Tuesday event that is scheduled to make a return at the end of this month.
New Temporary Sign Ordinance
The new temporary sign ordinance adopted by the Smyrna City Council includes key provisions such as the size and location of the signage. Temporary sandwich signs will be allowed for no more than three total, one-month periods per frontage, annually.

Noise Ordinance Revised
A new noise ordinance has been put in place to reflect the reality of noise levels more properly. City officials say this will allow the police to enforce decibel levels and find the proper balance for residents and businesses. The new ordinance also takes into account the amount of "background" or "white" noise that surrounds us in a modern city.

Food Truck Ordinance
Smyrna's Food Truck Tuesdays, which concluded a successful first season last fall at Brawner Park, is scheduled to return on April 23, pending approval at the April 15 Smyrna City Council meeting.
An ordinance was drafted to address several basic stipulations including business license requirement, insurance, health inspection provisions and operational rules. The council is scheduled to formally approve the hire of a vendor to take over the management of Smyrna Food Truck Tuesdays.
Other Changes
A new flashing yellow left-turn signal has been installed and put into use starting this month at the intersection of East-West Connector and Cooper Lake Road.
The yellow arrow over the left-turn lane is part of a new signal display system that indicates to drivers more clearly when they must yield to make a left turn across traffic.
Cobb officials say the new signal system has proven to help prevent crashes, move more traffic through an intersection and provide additional traffic management flexibility. Click here to read more and find out how the new system works.
