Amanda Riley Foundation Still Going Strong, Impacting Lives
The nonprofit has already raised $85,000 this year to combat childhood cancer. Many events are planned in honor of Childhood Awareness Month this September.
Over the past six months, the has been busy raising money to support children with childhood cancer and their families. So far, the organization has hosted a number of funraisers, including the Harlem Legends All-Star Basketball Show, their first ever annual ARF Golf Tournament and their second annual Miles-4-Smiles Race and festival.
From September 2010 through December 2011, the group raised approximately $85,000. So far this year they raised an additional $55,000, bringing them close to their annual goal of $100,000.
In honor of Childhood Awareness Month in September, the Amanda Riley Foundation will be introducing their 22-4-22 campaign. The foundation was created in honor of Amanda Riley, the daughter of director Barbara Riley.

“It just came to me one day,” . “We wanted to do something to give back. The community, our family and friends, and our church were so giving and caring and so remarkable to us and Amanda through our journey."
Amanda was diagnosed with cancer in 2009, at the age of 16. She passed away after 405 of battling the disease.

Right now, the foundation is selling gold bows for $10 each. They are attempting to "" the month of September. Large bows for businesses are $22.
"I've been working with as many restaurants as I can knock on the doors," said Riley.
On Friday, September 7, . Riley has asked all attendees to wear a gold shirt, available through the foundation for $10.
The next day, Sept. 8, they will host a screening of Letters from God at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, along with dinner sponsored by Olive Garden. The movie is about a little boy who battled cancer and inspired an entire town. Dinner is $10 and the movie is free.
Finally, a Casino Cruise is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22, aboard a riverboat at Stone Mountain. There will be dinner, dancing, live music, raffles, silent auctions and of course casino gaming. Tickets are $75.
