Young Entrepreneurs Compete for Start-Up Funds

April 30, 2012—On May 8^, 2012, from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., ten students from 's Entrepreneurship Alliance will present business plans to a community investor panel at the

The panel is made up of community business leaders who will award start-up funding from a pot of money made up of their own donations.

The students will present their business plan to the panel, and request funding to purchase materials or advertising, and panel members will award the most deserving requests. For students, it will be an experience similar to “Shark Tank.”

The public is invited to a dessert reception from 1:15 p.m. - 1:30 p.m., when funding and awards will be presented.

About the South Gwinnett High School Entrepreneurship Alliance:

This is a program created from a partnership between l and the , with the joint goal of educating Snellville’s next workforce in entrepreneurship education, while creating new employment opportunities for the community.

Throughout the past year, the students have participated in a rigorous program. They have heard from local and regional entrepreneurs in the classroom and at regional events. They have taken field trips to local businesses such as an athletic clothing manufacturing facility.

In the classroom, they have thoroughly researched their businesses, determining their target market, their marketing plan, and their profit structure. With their new knowledge, these entrepreneurs are ready to step into a leadership role in their business and the community.

The city is a leader in encouraging entrepreneurs in Gwinnett County. In addition to the high school program, the Ccty coordinates the Snellville Entrepreneur Council, to assist small and start-up businesses.
