Fatal Snellville Shooting Claims Life Of Stonecrest Man

Police said the McCalla Court shooting appears to be drug-related though detectives are following up on all leads.

SNELLVILLE, GA — A 20-year-old Stonecrest man was fatally shot Sunday at McCalla Court, and police are working to identify the shooting suspect.

Gwinnett County Police said Tuesday the shooting killed Rasheed Joseph, who died at a hospital.

Joseph's mother had driven him to McCalla Court, where a man entered their car, police said. The man shot Joseph in his chest and stole money from his pocket, police said.

Police said Joseph's mother fled the scene, stopping at a nearby gas station at Lenora Church Road.

Officers, along with the Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services, rendered aid to Joseph at the gas station. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and died the next day at the hospital.

"Detectives are investigating this as a drug-related incident but are continuing to follow up on all leads," police said in a news release.
