GA Players Rack Up $39M In Lottery Prizes
A Fantasy 5 player hit the jackpot, while a single scratch-off was worth $3 million for a Georgia resident.
More than $39 million was recently won in scratch-off winnings, including $3 million from a single ticket and $2 million from a scratcher, in Georgia.
The Georgia Lottery Corporation on Tuesday said a $2 million prize was won with an Xtreme Money scratcher purchased from a Douglasville grocery store.
The winner claimed their prize Tuesday, a day after lottery officials announced players won $39,464,258 in scratch-off winnings last week.

This included a 100x the Money scratcher purchased from a Morrison Moore Parkway West convenience store in Dahlonega that was worth $3 million. The lucky winner claimed their prize on Friday.
The next day, a Fantasy 5 player hit the jackpot and scored $865,050, lottery officials said. The winning ticket was bought at an Abercorn Street grocery store in Savannah.

Someone matched the five white-ball numbers in Monday's Powerball drawing, winning $1 million, lottery officials said. The ticket was bought from a Harold G. Clarke Parkway gas station in Forsyth.
In Wednesday's Powerball drawing, an estimated $325 million is on the line.
Lottery officials say other winners were:
- A Fairburn resident who won $18,000 playing Ruby 7’s on Thursday.
- A player in Lake Park who won $13,069 playing Elephant King Jackpots on Friday.
- A resident of Grovetown who won $10,000 playing Million Dollar Countdown on Wednesday.
- A Suwanee resident who hit the jackpot Monday playing Double Win Quick Win on the Georgia Lottery website, winning $36,590.
- An Atlanta resident who won $50,000 playing Supernova 9’s on Monday.
- A player in Kennesaw who won $20,000 playing Lucky 7s Multiplier on Saturday.
- A resident of Macon who won $10,000 playing Fishing for Gold on Friday.
Three Georgia Five players each won $10,000 in the following drawings, per lottery officials:
- Friday's midday drawing: ticket purchased at a Highway 78 East gas station in Snellville.
- July 15 evening drawing: ticket purchased at a West Oak Street store in McRae-Helena.
- July 13 evening drawing: ticket purchased at a Beaver Run Road gas station in Midland.
Online winning tickets have an expiration date of 180 days from the drawing date while instant ticket winners have 90 days from the expired date to claim prizes. Instructions on how to receive prizes are here.
Georgia takes 5.75 percent in state taxes and 24 percent in federal taxes for winnings more than $5,000.
"The (Georgia Lottery Corporation) reports to the IRS and Georgia Department of Revenue the names of winners of prizes above $600. ... Additionally, the GLC is required to check for and deduct any outstanding child support payments for prizes of $2,500 and above and student loans and state taxes for prizes of $5,000 and above, net of wager or ticket cost," lottery officials said on the Georgia Lottery website.
