When police arrived, cashier Adam Davis stated that the suspect robbed him at gunpoint while customers were in the store. As Davis was assisting customers, the suspect jumped over the counter and grabbed Davis by the collar, forcing him to his knees. He then placed the handgun to the back of Davis' head and demanded he open the cash registers.

The suspect asked where the money was, asking, "Do you think I'm playing?"

Davis opened the cash register and the suspect made off with around $60, although he is unsure of the exact amount.

Marvin Harris was a customer at the gas station at the time. He confirmed Davis' account of what happened. Harris said that once the suspect fled QuikTrip he relocated to Publix, which is across the street. The suspect then fled to Huddle House, after which Harris lost sight of him.

Police could not process the scene because the suspect was wearing gloves. Three CDs of the incident were handed over to authorities.
