Snellville Mother Received $2K+ In False Insurance Claims: GA Official
Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King said the mother collected payments for her child's surgery that never happened.
SNELLVILLE, GA — A Snellville mother was charged Wednesday on suspicion of insurance fraud and forgery after state officials said she collected nearly $2,500 in payments for a surgery that never happened.
Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King said in a news release Dayshanell Hewitt, 25, filed a claim with USAA Insurance Company in March 2022 for a surgery performed on her child.
King said two of the three medical invoices that were submitted as evidence were approved by the insurer.

"Upon review, investigators determined all three medical invoices were fraudulent, and the surgery never occurred," King said in the release.
Warrants were taken out on June 21 against Hewitt, and she remained wanted as of Wednesday.
