2 Shot In High School Parking Lot In Cobb County
The shooting happened in the school parking lot and did not involve McEachern High students, school officials said.
POWDER SPRINGS, GA — Two people were shot Thursday afternoon in the parking lot of McEachern High School near New Macland Road, Cobb County Schools said in a statement.
School officials and Cobb County Police said the two people suffered non-threatening injuries and were not students. It is unknown what led to the shooting, which police said happened around 1:45 p.m.
Cobb County Police Chief Stuart VanHoozer said at a press conference that both victims are expected to survive. He added the McEachern was secured, and students were safe.

VanHoozer said suspects are being sought in the shooting but did release further details on the suspects.
The school entered a code red after the shooting, school officials said.

A shelter-in-place order was established for the school, and New Macland traffic was being diverted until further notice. McEachern has since been deemed safe.
Parents were redirected to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2595 New Macland Road, to reunite with their students. Parents could gain access to the church from Richard D. Sailors Parkway.
In an update around 4 p.m., police said the reunification process was underway.
