Armed Robbery Reported at Austell Hotel

No money or items were taken in the early Thursday incident, and police are looking for a man who fled on foot.

Cobb Police officials Thursday afternoon announced they are looking for a man who attempted to rob an employee of an Austell hotel in the early morning hours.

According to a news release from Cobb Police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce, a man entered the Sleep Inn at 125 South Service Road about 4:35 a.m. Thursday and immediately sprayed a male employee with pepper spray. The perpetrator then went behind the counter and began demanding money from the employee.

When the employee began yelling for help, the perpetrator fled on foot in an unknown direction, having taken nothing from the business.

The perpetrator is described as a black man believed to be in his early 20s, 5-feet-8-inches to 5-feet-10-inches tall, with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a red baseball cap and a blue zip-up jacket. He was armed with pepper spray and possibly a gun or Taser.
