Boil Water Advisory Issued For South Cobb Due To Water Main Break
The boil water advisory is due to a large water main break Friday morning.
MARIETTA — A significant water main break triggered a boil water advisory Friday morning for much of south Cobb County, officials said in a news release.
County officials said a 36-inch water main on Macedonia Road, which is part of the Cobb County Marietta Water Authority System, caused pressures loss in the Cobb Water System.
The City of Austell said in a Nixle alert the break happened around 1 a.m. at Macedonia near the Red Rose Drive intersection.

The advisory remains in effect until officials receive the water quality test results, which take at least 24 hours. Powder Springs, Austell, Mableton and portions of Marietta and Smyrna are impacted by the advisory.
"Out of an abundance of caution, the CCMWA recommended that the Cobb County Water System issue a boil water advisory due to the loss of water pressure and the potential for contamination," county officials said in the release.
