Man to Serve 20 Years for Impregnating Austell Girl

A man has been convicted of statutory rape after impregnating a 13-year-old Austell girl, according to District Attorney Vic Reynolds.

On Thursday, a jury convicted Cesar Solis, 43, after a three-day trial before Cobb Superior Court Chief Judge Adele Grubbs. Senior Assistant District Attorney Eleanor Odom prosecuted the case.

According to Odom, Solis was living with the victim’s family in Austell in 2012. The victim told police that Solis forced her to have sex one morning and that he threatened her not to tell anyone. 

When she discovered she was pregnant, she told her mother, and after a police investigation, Solis was charged with rape. The victim gave birth in June 2013, and tests confirmed Solis fathered the child.

At trial, the defense argued that the girl and Solis were having a relationship and that there was no force. Jurors convicted Solis of statutory rape, and he was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Solis has been held without bond since his arrest on Dec. 25, 2012.
