Six Flags Celebrated 45 Years of Good Times
The themepark celebrated its 45th anniversary with appearances from comedian Jeff Foxworthy, nearly 500 cupcakes and fireworks.
Six Flags Over Georgia celebrated 45 years on Saturday.
Readers shared with South Cobb Patch, and here are a few of our favorites:
Tracy Murphy said, "We took our four year old son last year. He went on his first rollercoaster ride ever. To see the joy and excitement on his face when we got off was priceless! It's an experience we will all treasure as a family! Our son can't wait to go back to Six Flags to have fun and create more memories."

Rev. David Pearce of Austell Presbyterian Church said, "It was 1970, and I was there with my church youth group. It was July 4 and a rainstorm earlier in the day had cleared many out of the park. We started riding the Great American Scream machine over and over. Coasters were new to all of us. We would ride it and get right back in the short lines and ride again. With the park closing we rode one last time. We climbed that first hill ever so slowly. When we reached the top, the fireworks display exploded all around us. I will never forget that night."
Pam said, "They had "Senior Night" at Six Flags when I was a senior in 1970-1971. The park was just open to high school seniors (don't know if they still do that). My three friends and I went and rode the rides with the cutest guys running them! My friend actually married one of the guys she met. I don't need the tickets, but it got me thinking of the great times I had at Six Flags."
