Substandard housing is considered being homeless for families
The Atlanta Journal
constitution provided a list of 256 apartment complex on the dangerous dwellings list and 10 of the apartments are in the city limits of Mableton
Most recently an entire building was closed due to maintenance issues at Silver Creek Crossing Apartments 595 Riverside Parkway Austell Georgia ( Mableton city limits) the residents were asked to vacate on August 15th.

According to the McKinney Vento act the definition of being homeless is below

The Act then goes on to give examples of children who would fall under this definition:
• (a) Children sharing housing due to economic hardship or loss of housing;
• (b) Children living in "motels, hotels, trailer parks, or camp grounds due to lack of alternative accommodations"
• (c) Children living in "emergency or transitional shelters"
• (d) Children whose primary nighttime residence is not ordinarily used as a regular sleeping accommodation (e.g. park benches, etc.)
• (e) Children living in "cars, parks, public spaces, abandoned buildings, substandard housing, bus or train stations
