Teen Dies After Being Hit By Car In South Cobb

A grey 2021 Kia Rio hit the boy, causing him to propel into the air, near Austell and Clay roads.

AUSTELL, GA — A 15-year-old Austell boy is dead after Cobb County Police said the boy was recently hit by a car at Clay Road, east of Austell Road.

Police said Tuesday the boy, who was not identified, died Friday of injuries sustained in the crash.

He was hit around 8:45 a.m., March 20, by a grey 2021 Kia Rio being driven by a 22-year-old Marietta resident, police said. The Rio was crossing Austell on a green light, police said.

While the Rio was crossing, police said the boy went into the roadway in its path and was hit by the car on the eastern side of Clay. Police said he was propelled and uncontrollably rested in Clay's westbound lane.

The boy was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where he died of his injuries, police said.
