WellStar Honored For Top-Level Cardiac Care

WellStar Kennestone Hospital is one of only two hospitals to receive Joint Commission Gold Seal Disease-Specific Certification.

SOUTH COBB, GA -- WellStar Kennestone Hospital's cardiac program has the distinction of being one of only two programs in the country to receive the Joint Commission Gold Seal Disease-Specific Certification for Heart Valve, Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery and Congestive Heart Failure, Patch has learned.

The Joint Commission honor means that Wellstar offers top-level cardiac care.

“Our unwavering focus on patient care sets WellStar apart from other health systems,” Barry Mangel, M.D., chief cardiology officer at WellStar Health System, said in a statement. “We are able to provide excellent cardiac care that is making an impact on the health of our community. We have highly skilled physicians and caregivers who are all working toward a singular goal—getting our patients back to their lives.”

The Joint Commission is a not-for-profit group that recognizes, accredits and certifies close to 21,000 health care organizations and programs nationwide.
