WellStar’s Intensive Care Unit Honored With Beacon Award
WellStar Cobb Hospital's Intensive Care Unit was recently honored with the Beacon Award for Excellence.
WEST COBB, GA -- WellStar Cobb Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit was recently honored with the Beacon Award for Excellence. The award recognizes ICUs that distinguish themselves by providing and improving on patient care.

“At WellStar Cobb Hospital, we care for the whole person,” Amy Carrier, president of WellStar Cobb Hospital, said in a news release. “Our patients are people. They have names. They have family members. And they deserve care that focuses on the mind, body and spirit. I’m so proud of our ICU team for providing this level of patient care every day.”

The award, given by the American Association of Critical- Care Nurses (AACN), was presented to WellStar's ICU team at a conference in Houston this month.

“This award is not an individual award,” Kay Kennedy, chief nursing officer at WellStar Cobb Hospital, said in a statement. “It takes every team member, performing at the highest level of care and integrity, year after year. Our 100-member-plus team makes this level of care possible.”
