Accused Child Molester On The Run: Sheriff's Office

The Cherokee Sheriff's Office is looking for Woodstock resident Jose "Angel" Herndez-Mendez, who is possibly trying to flee to Mexico.

WOODSTOCK, GA — The hunt is on for a man charged with child molestation who authorities believe could be trying to escape prosecution by fleeing to another country.

That's according to the Cherokee Sheriff's Office, which has charged Jose "Angel" Herndez-Mendez of Woodstock with aggravated sexual battery and child molestation.

According to the Cherokee Sheriff's Office's be-on-the-lookout alert, detectives believe the suspect is trying to flee to Mexico.

Anyone who has information on Herndez-Mendez's whereabouts is asked to call Investigator Dobbs at 770-928-0239 or 911 and reference case number 18-137873.
