Action Church COVID Testing Site Closed Through Monday

The COVID-19 testing site closed Thursday due to inclement weather, and will remain closed until Monday due to New Year's Eve.

The testing site will also relocate on Monday, moving from Action Church in Canton to JJ Biello Park's Riverside Athletic Complex at 610 Druw Cameron Court in Woodstock.

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — As flash floods and heavy rains coat the metro Atlanta area, at least one COVID-19 testing site has closed due to the weather and will remain closed until Monday.

The MAKO Medical testing site at Action Church in Canton closed Thursday due to inclement weather, according to a news release, and will also be closed Friday due to New Year's Eve.

Additionally, the site will be relocating on Monday to JJ Biello Park, Riverside Athletic Complex, 610 Druw Cameron Court in Woodstock. Hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Thunderstorms have dropped from 1.5 to nearly 4 inches of rain in some parts of the Atlanta region Thursday, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a flash flood warning and flood watch.

Strong to severe storms are possible Thursday afternoon and evening, the weather service tweeted. The forecast calls for rain throughout the weekend before ending Sunday night; Monday is expected to be clear and sunny.

"Central Georgia is under a 2/5 risk with areas south of I-20 under a 1/5 risk," the National Weather Service said. "A brief tornado is possible, but primary hazards are flash flooding and damaging winds."

Cherokee County is included in the NWS's hazardous weather outlook Thursday. The NWS predicts the biggest threat to be heavy rainfall Thursday and Friday, and possible thunderstorms on Saturday and Sunday.
