Here are the top five stories in Woodstock-Towne Lake today:

  1. If you haven't had the need to travel Arnold Mill Road in the past two days, a large sinkhole opened up and portions of the road are closed. The hole is on the eastbound side, between River Laurel Way and Grimes Road, there are detour signs posted in the roadway. If you live in the subdivisions in that area, you can access them, but through-traffic is prohibited until the repairs are completed. (Cherokee Sheriff's Office via Facebook)
  2. The Cherokee Sheriff's Office is looking for a missing adult male, last seen in the area of Allmond Lane and Birmingham Highway. Vance Lockridge, 21, is described as 6-foot-1 inches tall with short brown hair and beard. He was last seen wearing a turquoise Nike t-shirt, white stiped shorts and sandals. The missing male has autism and epilipsy. If you have seen Lockridge, please contact the sheriff at 678-493-4080 - you can reference case SO23-006753. (Cherokee Sheriff's Office via Facebook)
  3. If you've been wanting to volunteer your time and you love kittens, the Cherokee County Animal Shelter has an opportunity for you. The shelter has spots open for foster families to join in their efforts by taking care of the little ones while they get ready to find their forever homes. According to the shelter, almost 300 kittens were saved last year by families that volunteered their time and homes, and you can be one too.   4. This Thursday is Family Fun Night in Downtown Woodstock. The theme this time around is "Prehistoric Party," and it will be going on from 5-9 p.m. The movie "Land Before Time" will be shown at 7 p.m. on The Green, and there will be prehistoric-themed activities and offerings at some of the shops.   5. The next in the Downtown WDSTK Walking Tour Series is coming up next week on May 25. The tour next week will bring you through the history of our city as you learn about the roles the railroad and farming had here, the importance of certain buildings and what families played a role in the founding of Woodstock.   • Senior Libby Workshop: The workshop for seniors will help in setting up an account with Libby and getting familiar with the app. The Libby platform houses the library system's e-books and e-audiobooks. The workshop will be held at the R.T. Jones Memorial Library, 116 Brown Industrial Parkway in Canton. (11 a.m. - noon)
  • Cynthia Graubart In-Person Event: The meet and greet is free and doesn't require a registration, but you can order a copy of the author's book "Zucchini Love" online here. The event will be held at FoxTale Book Shoppe, 105 E. Main Street, Suite 138. (6:30 p.m.)
  • Hot Vinyasa: All levels are welcome, though some prior experience is helpful to the class held at Ember Hot Yoga, 330 Chambers St. (6:30 - 7:45 p.m.)
  • DJ Trivia: Guston's Grille has great food and trivia tonight, the restaurant is at 12195 Hwy. 92, Suite 156. (7:30 p.m.)

    • Friday: Woodstock Arts Improv Troupe, WIT! - The laughs are best for ages 10 and up at the Woodstock Arts Theatre, 8534 Main Street. (7:30 p.m.)
    • Saturday: The Lasting Laugh - For ages 12 and up, clean comedy hosted by Jessica It's All Good at the Woodstock Arts Theatre. (7:30 p.m.)
    • Saturday: Sons of Serendip - The group is playing as part of the Lantern Series on the Event Green downtown. The musical sound is described as "classical pop," you can check out the music here. (7:30 p.m.)
    • Sunday: Woodstock Arts Video Game Tournament, Wii Sports - There is a $10 entry fee if you'd like to play, you can save your spot at the link. Spectators are free. The event will be on The Green downtown, at 113 Elm St., so be sure to bring a folding chair. The winner will get a $25 gift card for GameStop. (6 p.m.)
  • IN WDSTK - Open to non-members
    • Wednesday: Fresh Start Mornings - Presented by the Cherokee Office of Economic Development (COED), give and receive feedback, learn and make connections with other local entrepreneurs. The meeting is free and open to the public at Reformation Brewery, 225 Reformation Parkway in Canton. (9 - 10 a.m.)
    • Thursday: YPOW AM — Join the Young Professionals of Woodstock every Thursday morning for coffee, networking and an informal chat with a local leader at The Circuit, 1 Innovation Way. (7:30 - 8:30 a.m.)
  • Woodstock Parks and Recreation
    • Tuesday and Thursday: +55 Trail Walkers - For those 55 and up that can walk a minimum of one mile on a paved trail. Head out to socialize and get some exercise every Tuesday and Thursday, the walking will alternate between the Noonday Creek, Rubes Creek, Towne Lake Pass and Trestle Rock trails. (9 - 10 a.m.)
    • Thursday: Butterfly Gardeners - Join the group of citizen volunteers as they maintain the Woodstock butterfly gardens. The group will meet at the William G. Long Senior Center, 223 Arnold Mill Road. (6 - 7:30 p.m.)
    • Saturday: AMPED in the Park with Burn Boot Camp - The Amphitheater downtown will be the place for a fun workout this weekend, the free class is for all fitness levels. (9 - 10 a.m.)
    • Saturday: Bee Hive Maintenance, Spring Prep - Learn how to manage your beehive in this once-a-month class headed up by Woodstock Community Garden Beekeeper Shannon Sorescu. This time you'll go over "supering" and will be held at the Woodstock Community Garden, 311 Arnold Mill Road. (3 - 4:30 p.m.)
    • Sunday: Discovering Disc Golf - Learn the basics of the sport, including equipment, stance, throwing, scoring and rules. Everyone will go home with their own disc, the class will be held on the Prodigy Par 2 Disc Golf Course at Dupree Park, 513 Neese Road. (2 - 3:30 p.m.)
  • Cherokee Recreation & Parks
    • Monday and Tuesday: Community Yoga - The free class is open to all fitness levels and takes place every Monday morning and Tuesday evening. Please bring your mat to the class at The WREC, 7545 Main St., Building 200. (Various Times)
    • Friday: Spring Into Summer Fest Talent Show - Therapeutic Recreation is holding the event, and you can expect a ton of talent, raffle prizes, food trucks, crafts, a magician and dance party, a singalong and games at The Buzz, 7345 Cumming Highway in Canton. (5 - 8 p.m.)
    • Friday: Parent's Night Out - Bring the kids over to the Cherokee Aquatic Center, at 1200 WellStar Way in Canton, and they'll have a great time swimming, eating, making crafts, playing games and watching a movie. (5:15 - 10 p.m.)
