Here are the top five stories today in Woodstock-Towne Lake:
- The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners approved a growth boundary agreement with Ball Ground this week. The 25-year agreement defines and limits Ball Ground's future growth and ensures that both sides will be allowed input on projects within the boundary. The growth boundary will circle the existing city limits, between Etowah River on the south side and Sharp Mountain Creek on the west, extending northeast to the intersection of I-575 and Highway 372, then east, generally following Reavis Mountain Road to Cherry Grove Road, and then the boundary is completed towards the southwest to Conns Creek Road and back down to Etowah River. The county also has boundary agreements with Canton and Woodstock. (Cherokee County Press Release)
- The Cherokee County Fair is going on this week at the fairgrounds at 160 McClure Street, Canton. The gates open at 5 p.m. today and 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free for children 10 and under and seniors and $5 for ages 11-64. The fair benefits the American Legion Post 45. (Subscription: Cherokee Tribune & Ledger-News)
- The 38th annual Riverfest Arts & Crafts Festival is Saturday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Etowah River Park will host the annual festival. There will be vendor goods to peruse, entertainers, fun and lots of food. In the past, Riverfest has seen over 25,000 visitors, more than 150 arts and crafts exhibitors, 10-15 concession options and entertainment of all types. The children's area this year will include bounce houses, a petting zoo and miniature train rides. Hope to see you there! Note: The R.T. Jones Memorial Library will be closed Saturday and Sunday due to Riverfest. The library will be used as parking during the festival, but the outdoor book return boxes will still be available.
