Bring One For The Chipper On Jan. 5 In Woodstock

The city's event will be held at Olde Rope Mill Park.

WOODSTOCK, GA — If you've started 2019 with your Christmas tree still taking up space in your living quarters, you will be able to (finally) dispose of this item on Saturday in Woodstock.

The city will host its Bring One for the Chipper event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5 at Olde Rope Mill Park. Sponsored by the city and Keep Georgia Beautiful, the event includes free tree seedlings and refreshments as you drop off your trees for recycling.

Please note that the city will not accept decorations, stands or flocked trees. Flocked and painted trees are poisonous to the river and animals in the park.

Since Dec. 26, the city has been in the midst of its annual Chip n Dip campaign. Residents dropped their trees off at the park so city staff members could feed them into the chipper. If you're inclined, you can return to the park from 8 a.m. to dusk to dip into the free mulch through Jan. 15.

Bring One for the Chipper is a statewide effort to reuse Christmas trees. Since its inception, the program has recycled an estimated 6 million Christmas trees. The mulch from these trees has been used for playgrounds, local government beautification projects and individual yards.

Keep Georgia Beautiful works with several sponsors to organize the event at various locations around the state. You can view other Bring One for the Chipper sites by clicking here.
