Here are the top four stories today in Woodstock-Towne Lake:
- A search warrant was served at a Cherokee County home on Friday after a local man was charged with several crimes against children including sexual exploitation of children and aggravated child molestation. The GBI is leading the investigation and asks that anyone with information on the case against Joseph Ruben William Wade Thomas contact the GBI Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit at 404-270-8870 or through the tip line at 800-597-TIPS(8477). - Canton police recovered a body from the Etowah River Saturday afternoon. The man found north of the Waleska Street Bridge has not been identified, and the cause of death is being investigated. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Canton Police Department. (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
- The Kid Biz Expo is coming to downtown Woodstock on July 24 from 1 - 6 p.m. The market was created to help showcase business owners aged 8-18. The young vendors will offer their goods and services from their booths on the green. (Kid Biz Expo via Facebook)
- WSB-TV is collecting new backpacks and school supplies to help children in foster care and group homes. This year, donations can be made online or in person. The event will be held on July 23 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The Woodstock location for the Stuff the Bus event will be the Delta Community Credit Union on Molly Lane. (WSB Atlanta)

- Local schools start in two weeks! Cherokee County schools resume class on August 1. School walkthroughs are scheduled for July 28 and July 29. Check the schedule for school-specific information. (CCSD news)
- A new number for mental health emergencies is now available nationwide. As of Saturday, Georgians can call 988 for assistance and connection to trained mental health counselors. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, 800-273-8255, will still be operable. (WSB-TV)
- Union Hill Road will be closed between Hasty Trail and Spearman Lane starting July 26 as the county replaces the bridge over Canton Creek. The closure is expected to last until late January. (Cherokee County communications)
