The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Woodstock and Cherokee until 2:45 Wednesday afternoon.
"Flood waters are moving down Long Swamp Creek...Settingdown Creek...Cane Creek and the Etowah River at this time. Public records of flooded roads in northeast Cherokee are being received," reads the statement, which notes that roads are flooding rapidly in the area.
The Cherokee County School District noted that bus routes may be affected by the flooding, and buses will follow detours if necessary. "Flash flooding and downed trees have led to road closures in the Ball Ground and Free Home areas that may impact CCSD Transportation today," said the district on its Facebook page.
A watch will remain in effect through Thursday morning.
