Gold's Walleshauser Cited Among Nation's Elite Youth Swim Coaches

Only one swim coach across Georgia is considered one of the country's Top 50 Age Group Coaches of the Year for 2024 and that's Chattahoochee Gold's Mark Walleshauser.

"Coach Mark" receives that elite distinction from the American Swim Coaches Association and Fitter & Faster swim camps. Walleshauser is now in the running for national Age Group Coach of the Year to be awarded in September at the ASCA World Clinic Hall of Fame Induction & Awards ceremony in Orlando.

Mark began his ascension in the swim world as a competitor for Chattahoochee Gold, setting two team records. From there, he swam & studied at Vermont's Norwich University. Mark was captain of the swim team in his junior & senior years.

Mark's been coaching for Gold for five years and was named head coach for the team at the Cumming Aquatic Center last summer. He says his motivation for coaching is to help his athletes become the best swimmers, students, and children they can be, “I cannot express enough my gratitude to the parents and swimmers of the groups I coach. You all put in early mornings, late nights, long weekends and so many hours at the pool. Your dedication to the sport, team and by extension, me are the reasons I am on this list [of Top Age Group Coaches]. Thank you to the parents and swimmers I coach, I cannot say it enough!”
