  1. Woodstock's Greenstock Day Recycle & Paper Shredding Event is Saturday, April 22. You can bring all sorts of unwanted items over to the Woodstock Elementary School parking lot from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Items accepted at no charge include residential documents, batteries, bagged cabling, CD's, cell phones, computers and many more. Items accepted with a charge include projection TVs for $40, LCD monitors for $5, CRT monitors for $10 and all other televisions for $25. This is a cash-only event and a receipt will be given upon request. Please see the link for a full list of accepted items and important event information. On the subject of reducing, reusing and recycling, don't forget about the City Wide Yard Sale this weekend.   2. The Cherokee County Animal Shelter has posted a three-step process that could prove invaluable if you find yourself searching for a lost pet. First and foremost, visit the animal shelter daily, or as often as you can, to check for your pet in person. Second, make sure your pet's microchip information is up to date, if your pet doesn't have one, please know that the shelter offers free, walk-in microchipping. The third thing you'll want to do is fill out a Lost & Found form on the shelter's website here. If you have one, you can also send a picture to the shelter by message on their Facebook page or by email at shelterfriends@gmail.com. (Cherokee County Animal Shelter via Facebook)
  3. If you're interested in a career with the Woodstock Police Department, they are holding a hiring event Saturday. Whether you're a civilian thinking about a career shift or a seasoned and certified officer, the Woodstock PD has a place for you. The hiring event will run from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the department, you can drop in anytime. In just one day, you can learn about the Woodstock PD from some of the city's finest, take a tour of the police department, ride along with an officer, fill out your application and have your interview. The department is housed inside City Hall at 12453 Highway 92. You can see the list of items to bring with you and submit your RSVP at the link. Aug you'd prefer, you can apply online.   4. Fencing isn't just for the fancy, it could really come in handy in certain situations. If you've thought about learning the sport or just want to fine-tune your Inigo Montoya impression, Cherokee Recreation & Parks offers fencing classes that are just perfect for you. The class for kids aged 8 - 12 and the class for teens and adults both start up on May 3 and will meet on Wednesdays. The younger set will practice from 6 - 6:55 p.m. and the older crew will get their turn from 7 - 7:55 p.m., classes are to be held at The WREC, 7545 Main Street, Building 200. You can register here.   • Community Yoga: the free class is open to all fitness levels and takes place every Monday morning and Tuesday evening. Please bring your own mat. You can sign up at the link for the class at The WREC, 7545 Main Street, Building 200. (10 - 11 a.m.)
  • Knife & Scissor Sharpening Service: Tony from Y-Not Sharp will be available to sharpen your knives and shears at Leaning Ladder, 105 E. Main Street. No appointment necessary, and you can pay on site. (2 - 6 p.m.)
  • Bank Painting for Money Smart Week: for all ages, though children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Paint small wooden banks in celebration of Money Smart Week at the R.T. Jones Memorial Library, 116 Brown Industrial Parkway in Canton. (4:30 - 5:30 p.m.)

  • "Star Trek" Trivia: boldly go where no one's gone before - to compete in tonight's "Star Trek" trivia at The Blue Ghost Arcade.   • It's Farm. Fresh. Market. season! The market will be open every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon until December 30. Head downtown for the best place around to find locally grown and created products. I'll be there, hope to see you around! (Downtown Woodstock via Facebook)
  • Don't forget to get your tickets for the Downtown WDSTK Walking Tour Series. The guided walking tours will be held on the last Thursday of each month through October, each with its own theme. You'll learn about the history and growth of the area and see some public art. The first tour, "Weird Woodstock," is on April 27. You can purchase tickets in person at the Visitors Center on Main Street or online on the WDSTK Brand Store. (Downtown Woodstock via Facebook)
  • The next Parent's Night Out at the Cherokee Aquatic Center is Friday, April 28. You can drop off the kids from 5:15 - 10 p.m., and while you are out and about, the kids will be enjoying a swim, dinner, crafts, games and a movie.     • Tuesday and Thursday: +55 Trail Walkers - for those 55 and up that can walk a minimum of one-mile on a paved trail. Head out to socialize and get some exercise every Tuesday and Thursday, the walking will alternate between the Noonday Creek, Rubes Creek, Towne Lake Pass and Trestle Rock trails. (9 - 10 a.m.)
    • Wednesday: Mother Earth Rocks! - paint smooth river rocks with happy, encouraging and positive pictures or messages and hide them where others will find them. It's a free event, and it really brings a smile to people's faces. This event in the series will be held in the Gazebo in the Park at City Center. (6:30 - 7:30 p.m.)
    • Thursday: Butterfly Gardeners - join the group of citizen volunteers as they maintain the Woodstock butterfly gardens. This month's workday location has not been posted yet, please keep an eye on the registration page for more details. (6 - 7:30 p.m.)

    • Friday and Sunday: The Legend of Georgia McBride - recommended for those 16 and older, catch the performance at the Woodstock Arts Theatre, 8534 Main Street. (Various Times)

    • Wednesday: Reading Dogs with Teddy Puppies - for children of all ages, but those under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.     • Friday: Drop-in STEM, Earth Day Grass Heads - plant seeds in a planter you make from recycled materials in recognition of Earth Day.
