- Few details were given on the crash that shut down I-575 northbound for over an hour yesterday. We do know that a box truck crashed into the guardrail and erupted in flames near the Hickory Flat exit in the afternoon, but no details were given on any injuries or other vehicles involved. The road was cleared, with traffic moving, by 2:30 p.m. (WSB-TV)
- Easter events are starting to pop up around town, the first bunch starting early next week. Here are a few events presented by Cherokee Recreation & Parks that will require registration to attend. The next Dive In Movie will be on March 31 and the movie will be "Free Willy." The Some Bunny Special program is going on until April 7, you can donate a basket and bring a smile to a little one's face. There will be an Easter Hiking Scavenger Hunt on March 29, a Flashlight Egg Hunt on March 31 and the EGGS-traordinary Spring Extravaganza will be on April 8. Children of all ages are invited to the Outdoor Egg Hunt and there are also several time slots for the Underwater Egg Hunt. (Cherokee Recreation & Parks)
- Rabies vaccinations are required in Cherokee County for all dogs and cats three months old and older. If your pet needs a rabies vaccination, you're in luck - the Cherokee County 4-H Club is holding vaccination clinics at nine different locations on April 15 as part of a community project. Utilizing school parking lots, the clinics will offer the vaccination for $10 per animal payable in cash only. At 9 a.m., the clinics at R.M Moore, Hickory Flat and Oak Grove elementary schools will be open. At 11:15 a.m., the ones at Clayton, Woodstock and Sixes elementary schools will be open. And at 2 p.m., the clinics at Ball Ground, Holly Springs and Hasty elementary schools will be open. Payment received will benefit the 4-H Club's events, activities, scholarships and professional development endeavors. (Subscription: Cherokee Tribune & Ledger-News)
- Etowah High School's Construction and Carpentry Career Pathway program is now certified by the Georgia Department of Education and the company Construction Ready. Certified through 2027, the school earned the designation due to their excellent curriculum and instruction, facilities and equipment, Pathway-related extra-curricular programs and partnerships with industry professionals. Students in the Construction and Carpentry Pathway can also use the designation to get into post-secondary construction programs and jobs within the field. Throughout the school district, there are 38 Career Pathway programs in the high schools, giving students a leg up into the job field or continuing education. Programs offered include Architectural Drawing and Design, Audio/Video Technology and Film Industry, Automotive Technology and Healthcare Science. (Woodstock-Towne Lake Patch)

- REV - The Massive Cruise-In: presented by Car Community Connection, head over and check out the cars today at The Outlet Shoppes, 915 Ridgewalk Parkway. There will be all kinds of cars, including exotics and classics. (8 a.m. - 1 p.m.)
- Essential Gardening, Container Gardens: The Cherokee County Master Gardeners and the UGA Cherokee County Extension Office will teach you container garden basics, including plant and container selection, garden design principles and plant combinations. Participants will go home with a plant or seeds. The talk will be held at the William G. Long Senior Center Expansion, 223 Arnold Mill Road. (10 - 11:30 a.m.)
- Breakfast with the Bunny: have some pancakes, juice and a picture with the Easter Bunny for free. - Friends of the Cherokee County Public Libraries Book Sale: the sale is open to all and will be held at the R.T. Jones Memorial Library, located at 116 Brown Industrial Parkway in Canton. The sale includes books, DVD's, puzzles, games and books on CD. (10 a.m. - 4 p.m.)
- Themed Book Club: for adult readers, read a book with this month's theme, graphic novels, and meet up to share your thoughts. You can also find the group on Beanstack, and the meeting will be held at the Woodstock Library, 7735 Main Street. (10:30 a.m. - noon)
- Battle of the Brews, featuring Lagers and Ales: take part in a blind tasting of lagers and ales this Saturday, rank your favorites and enjoy some great food at The Daily Draft, 8594 Main Street.
