Letter to the Editor: Rogers Needs to 'Take Personal Responsibility'

"It wasn't me" worked when Chip Rogers was attending public school. William is now old enough to admit his mistakes, but staying in denial is a bad sign, especially in an election season. How many times throughout history have we heard the words: "I wasn't really involved (in the bad or illegal deed), I was just there (reading a script)".   

When you have a pattern of behavior like Chip's that ignores the rules and laws that most of us live under, then, yes, it's difficult to understand that you're done anything wrong. Will has been a paid lobbyist for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, the Asian Hotel Owners Association, the American Legislative Exchange Commission, and other hidden entities while in public office - layer on top of that being one of the highest recipients of lobby dollars and gifts.

He's had questionable real estate deals where communities and taxpayers picked up the bill for his risky investments. He's sheltered his business tax dollars in Delaware. He's hidden, then altered his real estate dealings and corporate ownership from State Ethics logs. Chip's hand in redistricting, reshaping school boards, his keen interest in property taxes as a multi-property owner, and the myriad of local issues he's legislated while under the name of small government show a pattern of skirting obligations and concentrating on partisan issues vs. representation.

Chip works for ALEC, another place where he's just "reading the script" while proposing laws most of your constituents aren't asking for. The only one practicing political hacking is yourself - Mr. Rogers you did this to yourself thru your choice of activities. You can't blame the bank, the other guy, the gamblers...take personal responsibility, for once. Patrick Thompson
