Here are the top four stories today in Woodstock-Towne Lake:

  1. Great news, neighbors, the City of Woodstock Municipal Court is offering amnesty for certain cases this month. If you have traffic citations you haven't paid or have failed to appear for misdemeanor charges prior to this month, you may be eligible. For eligible cases that don't include a probation warrant or a felony, once a defendant pays the citation fee, charges will be dismissed, and warrant fees waived if there isn't a mandatory court appearance required. You can find the amnesty program guidelines at the link. (Woodstock GA News)
  2. When a delivery driver got into a wreck on Tuesday, responders came to the rescue in more ways than one. Responders arrived at the scene and made sure everyone was okay, and upon learning that one of the drivers was on his way to make a grocery delivery, Fire Apparatus Operator Matt Perry and Sheriff Frank Reynolds made that delivery instead. There were no injuries reported in the accident, and the groceries made it to their intended porch. (WSB-TV and Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services via Facebook)
  3. Cherokee County Public Works has a new place to call home. After an almost two-year renovation, the department has relocated to the new Charles "Cliff" Harden Public Works Complex at 1037 Marietta Highway, named for the former director of the department. The building is much larger than the former building across from the county jail, with plenty of space to handle their many duties, including road, road sign, bridge and paving upkeep and improvements. 4. If you ever need to be rescued from a precarious spot in the outdoors, Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) has the rope skills to get the job done. Eleven firefighters participated in a week-long Rope Rescue Technician class last month and built their knowledge on the tools, methods and techniques involved in rescuing and recovering people in varying terrain. From mechanical systems to knots to securing the victim, the class learned it all, making us all safer for their efforts. (CCFES News)
