Monster Trucks Race at Dixie Speedway
Here in the information you need to know Friday, Sept. 23.

1. There is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms earlier in the day, according to the National Weather Service . The rest of the day will be mostly cloudy with a high of 79 degrees and a low of 58.
2. The Monster Truck Nationals at are today and Saturday at 8 p.m. Seven of the nation's fastest monster trucks will be racing: Gunslinger, Bounty Hunter, Scarlet Bandit, Avenger, Brutus, Wrecking Crew and Spine. You can meet the drivers and see the trucks during the free Pit Party from 5 to 7 p.m. before the race.
You can buy your tickets online or at the gate. Adult Grandstand tickets are $15, and adult Trackside tickets are $20 for today. Saturday, adult Grandside tickets are $17, and adult Trackside tickets are 20. All children ages 3 to 12 get in for $10 both days. Don't forget coolers 14 inches and smaller are allowed at the race.

3. Downtown Woodstock will be welcoming the 12th new business 10 a.m. Saturday. Natural Strides will be opening for business at 8636 Main St. They will be doing more than selling minimalist shoes; part Owner Greg Scott will also be teaching Chirunning workshops and classes. will have the full story about Downtown Woodstock's newest addition this afternoon.
4. This is the last day Land Road at the Clayton Fire Station will be closed to through traffic for reconstruction. It will be closed till 5 p.m. There is a posted detour.

5. The Georgia Emergency Management Agency/Homeland Security and Georgia Department of Public Health have partnered to create a free Ready Georgia mobile app to make emergency preparation more accessible. The app is available for both iPhone and Android devices. Before an emergency, users will be able to create customizable checklists of emergency supplies, make disaster plans for their families and check flood risk levels and historic tornado data near their location. During an emergency, the app will deliver severe weather alerts, show the locations of open Red Cross shelters and provide information on what to do during different types of disasters. In addition to localized severe weather alerts, users will also receive alerts from GEMA and DPH in the event of other emergencies, such as terrorist attacks, infectious diseases or biological threats.
