Here are the top five stories today in Woodstock-Towne Lake:

  1. Reformation Brewery and MilVet Community are hosting the Red White Brews Benefit this Saturday, starting at 11 a.m. on The Green downtown. The all-day event will feature live music, food trucks and veteran-owned vendors, and ticket proceeds from the event will benefit the veteran support organizations Shepherd's Men and Honor and Remember. Vendors and live music will be on The Green from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., and the concert will run from 5:30-9 p.m. You can grab your tickets and read more about the event here.   2. Unwind Wednesdays is back after last month's weather-related cancellation, and this Wednesday will bring us "Yoga In The Park" with Michel Delifer from Ember Hot Yoga in Downtown Woodstock. The free, family-friendly event will feature food trucks, vendors, music and much more. The event is held at Cherokee Veterans Park in Canton, bring your chairs and blankets to get comfortable during the evening. The next Unwind Wednesday will be "Pup Stars Dog Show" on June 28.   3. This Thursday is the last show in the Brown Bag Concert Series, closing out with Serpent & Dove at noon. Take your lunch at the Gazebo in Park at City Center, the hour-long performance is an invigorating way to spend some time in the afternoon before the kids get home. Or, if the kids are at home, I can't think of a better break in the day for everyone than live music, neighbors and some sunshine. The park is located at 101 Arnold Mill Road, adjoining the Amphitheater. (Woodstock Parks and Recreation)
  4. The May edition of Jazz Night at the Reeves House is coming up this Friday at 6 p.m. It's a wonderful opportunity to just relax and take in our beautiful city and live jazz playing from the back porch. Tables and chairs are set up, and there is a tent in case of rain. The music is free, but the outdoor bar will have dessert and charcuterie boards, wine and beer available for purchase and there are coffee, drinks and snacks inside. (Woodstock Arts)
  5. The Cherokee County Master Gardeners are holding its Spring Plant Sale this Saturday, from 9 a.m.-noon. The sale is open to the public and will feature gorgeous plants, including sun and shade perennials, bushes and trees. Members of the Cherokee County Master Gardeners will be there to help you choose the perfect plants.   • There is a Red Cross blood drive in Hickory Flat today, hosted by the Cherokee Sheriff's Office (CSO). The drive will be held in the CSO Hickory Flat Community Room, located at 7675 Vaughn Road in Canton. Everyone that donates will receive an exclusive Red Cross beach towel, while supplies last. You can schedule an appointment online here, use the code "CSOHICKORY" to find the drive. You can also call 1-800-RED-CROSS to save your spot. (Cherokee Sheriff's Office via Facebook)
  • A ribbon cutting is being held for Limitless Disability Services Wednesday at 11 a.m. The organization, located at 120 Arnold Mill Road Park, Suite 300, offers a day program that allows special needs adults opportunities for growth and independence through community support and activities.   • IN WDSTK - Open to non-members
    • Thursday: YPOW AM - Join the Young Professionals of Woodstock every Thursday morning for coffee, networking and an informal chat with a local leader at The Circuit, 1 Innovation Way. (7:30 - 8:30 a.m.)
    • Friday: Morning INfluence with Woodstock Arts - Woodstock Arts Executive Director Christopher Brazelton and team will be on hand to discuss their plans for the Woodstock Arts 2023-24 season. Non-members are welcome, but an RSVP is required. Breakfast will be served at the networking event and it's being held at the Woodstock Chambers at City Center, 8534 Main St. (8 - 9 a.m.)
  • Woodstock Parks and Recreation
    • Tuesday and Thursday: +55 Trail Walkers - For those 55 and up that can walk a minimum of one mile on a paved trail. Head out to socialize and get some exercise every Tuesday and Thursday, the walking will alternate between the Noonday Creek, Rubes Creek, Towne Lake Pass and Trestle Rock trails. (9 - 10 a.m.)
  • Cherokee Recreation & Parks
    • Tuesday: Community Yoga - The free class is open to all fitness levels and takes place every Monday morning and Tuesday evening.     • Friday: Friday Flow Yoga - Join instructor Melanie Pineda for an outdoor class at Trefoil Gardens, walk-ins are welcome. Proceeds go to food access initiatives in the community. The class will meet on the deck at the Kingsridge CoOp Meeting Space, 120 Bascomb Drive. (12:30 p.m.)
