Here are the top four stories in Woodstock-Towne Lake today:
- A shooting took place Wednesday afternoon at the Shottenkirk Hyundai car dealership on Liberty Boulevard in Canton. After being shot in the leg, the victim drove down the road where the police located him. The passenger in the car was uninjured and the driver was transported to the hospital. The shooter was captured and is now in the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center charged with two counts of aggravated assault. (WSB-TV)
- Troy University has named its women's track and field 2022 signing class. Included is Woodstock native Makenna Calbert. The Etowah High School graduate is a distance runner that competed in the Georgia 7A State Championship meet for Etowah where her team was the runner-up and Calbert took 12th place in the 1600-meter run. (Troy Messenger)
- Also a Woodstock native, Carson Allen has committed to Mississippi State football. Allen is out of Etowah High School as well and was named the No. 41 kicker by Kohl's Kicking Camps. He was also named to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution's Class 6A all-state preseason team. (Clarion Ledger)
- Woodstock is in the running for Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine's 12th annual Top Adventure Towns Contest. The contest will have three rounds, the first round is open for votes until August 22. The winning towns in each of four categories will be featured in the November issue of Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine. You can vote for Woodstock and your other favorite towns online, we are in the "medium" category. (Watauga Democrat)

- The theme for the "LEGO Lab" at the Woodstock Public Library is "things that GO!" Create moving creations, test your builds and then leave them at the library to display for all to see. For kids of all ages. (4:30 p.m.)
- mINgle with LGE Community Credit Union is a networking event taking place at 936 Towne Lake Pkwy. Mingle with our community while enjoying food, beverages and music. Please register. (5:30 p.m.)
- Zoning Board of Appeals Public Hearing will be held at the Cherokee County Admin Complex on Bluffs Parkway in Canton. (6 p.m.)
- "Tune Up Thursdays - Marty Manous" - live blues music on the ROOFTOP at Rootstock. (6 p.m.)
- "Italian Trattoria with Chef Kyle" at Leaning Ladder is a demonstration class, there is an $85 per person registration fee. (7 p.m.)
