Woodstock Family Uninjured in Fatal Crash

Another driver faces charges in the three-vehicle Kennesaw collision Wednesday.

A Woodstock mother and her two children walked away without injuries Wednesday night in a three-vehicle crash that resulted in a death Friday.

Briana Brooks was driving a red 1998 Ford Explorer that was stopped at a red light on eastbound Barrett Parkway at Roberts Boulevard in Kennesaw just before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday when two other cars collided in the intersection. One of those cars, a blue 2006 Toyota Solara, then crashed into Brooks' Explorer.

The driver of the Toyota, 20-year-old Chassity Hollaman of Marietta, died Friday afternoon of her injuries at in Marietta, according to a news release from Cobb County police Sgt. Dana Pierce.

Pierce said police expect to charge Alberto Jose Abreus of Kennesaw, who drove the black 1996 Infiniti G20 that collided with Hollaman's car, in the crash and her death.

According to investigators with Cobb's Selective Traffic Enforcement Program Unit, Abreus ran a red light while driving west on Barrett Parkway and smashed into the driver's door of Hollaman's Toyota, which had the green light while heading south on Roberts Boulevard.

While Hollaman was taken to Kennestone Hospital with her critical injuries, Abreus complained of injuries but refused to go to the hospital, Pierce said. Brooks and her children, whose ages were not available Friday, were not hurt.
