• Hawai‘i Nature Center offers winter break camps on Maui and Oʻahu : Maui Now (mauinow.com) — Families in Kahului can sign up their keiki for Hawaiʻi Nature Center’s four‑day Winter Nature Adventure Camp, with daily drop‑off and pick‑up at Maui Nui Botanical Gardens in Kahului. Running Dec. 29 to Jan. 2, the program blends outdoor science, games, and field trips, with limited scholarships available for Maui public school students on free or reduced lunch.
   

• Second man in Maui IED case sentenced to 40 months (staradvertiser.com) — Federal prosecutors say a Kahului man received a two‑year federal prison sentence after his fingerprints were allegedly found on an improvised explosive device discovered near Lono Avenue by Kahului Elementary School. The case is part of a wider FBI and Maui Police investigation into homemade explosives detonated in Kula and Pukalani in 2024, which also led to a longer sentence for a Kula resident.

Maui immigration attorneys say arrests are rising statewide, cases are backlogged, and many migrants—some with legal status—struggle to access lawyers as detainees are moved to Honolulu, fueling fear in schools, neighborhoods, and workplaces.
