• College of Idaho eliminates three majors, sparking concerns it doesn't preserve a liberal arts identity (ktvb.com) — Students and faculty in Caldwell are grappling with the College of Idaho’s decision to cut its theater, communication arts, and philosophy majors while adding more career-focused programs like biochemistry, finance, and criminology. Current majors can finish their degrees and keep scholarships, but several faculty positions are being eliminated, and students worry the changes undermine the school’s liberal arts identity and leave spring teaching plans uncertain.
   

• Back-to-back student accidents raise alarm over school zone safety in Caldwell (kivitv.com) — Two students were hit by vehicles near Syringa Middle School and Caldwell High School on consecutive mornings, spurring urgent safety changes in Caldwell school zones. The city is expanding flashing beacons and considering more lighting, while Caldwell Police boost patrols and enforcement to slow drivers and protect kids walking to class.
   

• Idaho Farm Bureau elects Dorsey president (capitalpress.com) — A Caldwell-area farmer, Matt Dorsey, has been elected president of the Idaho Farm Bureau Federation, giving local agriculture a prominent voice in statewide policy. Dorsey, who farms in the Sunny Slope area, plans to focus on listening to members as the group pushes for easier direct-to-consumer sales and better-funded traffic studies on rural highways.
