- The Idaho National Laboratory (INL) has received support from the U.S. Department of Energy for two decades in developing a capability to assist American companies in scaling up production and reducing the costs of hydrogen generated through high-temperature steam electrolysis technologies. This development not only helps validate the performance of electrolysis and fuel cell technologies but also aligns with INL's objective of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2031. By scaling up production, the cost of producing hydrogen through high-temperature steam could eventually become more affordable than steam methane reforming. (East Idaho News)
- Three individuals tragically drowned while floating in a rubber raft on the Henry's Fork of the Snake River near Fun Farm Bridge in East Idaho. The victims, all in their 20s, became trapped downstream of a diversion dam and were unable to escape the turbulent undertow. Officials emphasized the importance of being aware of the dangers associated with river activities and urged the use of life jackets. (Idaho State Journal)
- Idaho Falls Police Department made a major drug seizure, confiscating approximately $900,000 worth of fentanyl pills from Jason Hurley of Bonneville County. This bust is potentially the largest in the state's history, with about 16 pounds of fentanyl pills recovered. Hurley faces numerous drug and weapons charges and could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted. (Idaho State Journal).
