Community invited to make a donation at Giving Machines in Idaho Falls (eastidahonews.com) — Idaho Falls residents can donate to local and global charities through the Church-sponsored Giving Machines now set up at Grand Teton Mall through Jan. 1. The machines support several Idaho Falls nonprofits, and local businesses and schools are already pitching in. Organizers hope more families and companies will stop by, choose a cause, and make charitable giving part of their Christmas traditions.
   

2. Idaho Falls woman searching for biological family discovers she was kidnapped by orphanage (ksl.com) — An Idaho Falls woman who was adopted from Moldova as a toddler recently discovered, through online sleuthing and a nonprofit group, that her biological family never intended to give her up and has searched for her for decades. Now living in Idaho Falls with her own family, she’s planning a reunion trip to Moldova and is urging support for groups that reconnect adoptees with their roots.
   

3. All-State: East Idaho earns 19 first-team selections, with Shelley's Higham, Hillcrest's Gines, and Butte County's Lyon and Simpson earning top honors (eastidahonews.com) — Idaho Falls volleyball standouts Addison Bowen and Leah Thomas earned first-team 5A All-State honors, spotlighting local talent on a statewide stage. The roundup also celebrates other east Idaho players and coaches, including Shelley’s Player of the Year Mallory Higham and Hillcrest’s Coach of the Year Dallas Gines, underscoring a dominant season for area programs.
   

4. Idaho gas prices drop below $3 for first time since early 2024 (dailyfly.com) — Idaho Falls drivers are now paying about $2.98 per gallon for regular gas as Idaho’s statewide average dips below $3 for the first time since early 2024. AAA Idaho credits cheaper crude oil and notes that prices have fallen 24 cents in just two weeks, with local shoppers urged to stack savings through fuel rewards programs.
   

5. GOP chair's comments on public school funding draw criticism (postregister.com) — Idaho Falls lawmaker Rep. Stephanie Mickelsen is at the center of a heated statewide fight over Idaho’s new Parental Choice Tax Credit, drawing criticism from Idaho GOP chair Dorothy Moon for joining a lawsuit against it. State education leaders and party officials are clashing over whether public schools are underfunded or simply ineffective, with major budget cuts looming in the upcoming legislative session.
